What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar tools, such as your browser's local storage, work the same way. This page lists exactly what annlcarden.com stores and why. The site is published by A. Carden Inc.
Your Choice Comes First
When you first visit, a cookie notice appears at the bottom of the screen with two buttons: Accept and Decline. Until you press Accept, no analytics cookies are stored. Google Analytics runs in Google Consent Mode with analytics and advertising storage set to denied by default. In that state Google may receive basic, cookieless signals such as the page viewed, but nothing is saved in your browser.
Cookies Set Only If You Accept
• _ga (Google Analytics 4, first-party, expires after 2 years): a random ID that lets us count unique visitors and see which pages are read.
• _ga_CMCDY44B7E (Google Analytics 4, first-party, expires after 2 years): keeps track of your current visit for our analytics property.
Google advertising features stay turned off even if you accept. We do not use advertising, retargeting or tracking pixels. This site does not set any login or session cookies for visitors.
Stored Whatever You Choose
• eiy-consent (local storage, not a cookie, kept until you clear it): remembers whether you chose Accept or Decline so the notice does not reappear on every page.
Services That Load Only When You Use Them
• YouTube: videos use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com player and load only when you press play. Once a video plays, YouTube (Google) may store its own cookies or identifiers. Video preview images are loaded from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com), which does not set cookies. See Google's privacy policy.
• Calendly: the booking calendar on our scheduling pages loads only when you press the button to open it, and Calendly may then set its own cookies. See Calendly's privacy notice.
Embedded Players and Images
• Podbean: some podcast episode pages include the Podbean audio player, which loads with the page and may store its own cookies. See Podbean's privacy policy.
• A few pages show images hosted by LinkedIn (media.licdn.com). Your browser requests them directly from LinkedIn.
Fonts are served from annlcarden.com itself. We do not load Google Fonts or other font services.
Changing Your Choice
Use the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page to bring the notice back and choose again. If you choose Decline after accepting, the site removes its Google Analytics cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
